FOCUS Missionary Team
St. Bartholomew is pleased to welcome and introduce members of the FOCUS Team (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) who participate in our daily and Sunday masses each week and seek to become a part of our faith community.
FOCUS is a worldwide organization of Catholic college-aged people who devote themselves to evangelizing on our university campuses, working with the students through faith journey, bible study and gatherings. FOCUS serves college students at more than 203 campus/locations including six international locations, 22 parish venues and 7 digital expansion campuses.
Almost 800 FOCUS missionaries invite college students into a relationship with Christ and His Church, while equipping them for a lifetime of Catholic evangelization. The nearest FOCUS campus to St. Bartholomew is California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Fr. Mark A. Strader is the Chaplain at CSULB to four FOCUS missionaries who attend this parish. Hi! My name is Camden Bole! I'm from Colorado Springs, although I've been on the move for the past few years. I joined the Catholic Church when I was a student at Grand Canyon University, and after meeting FOCUS during my senior year at a conference they held in Phoenix, I turned in a missionary application and never looked back. I spent my first year at San Diego State, moved to Cal State Fullerton for my second year, and I'm excited to spend my third year here at Long Beach as the team director. I'm a big fan of rock climbing, whiskey, and eating good food (so if you have recommendations, come let me know).
Hi! My name is Marian Bole! Camden and I got married on May 7, 2022 (pray for us!). I was born and raised in Chandler, Arizona. I graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2018 with a degree in Biology/Pre-Med and in 2020 with a Master’s in Chemistry. I previously was an adjunct professor at GCU and a full-time Campus Minister at the Holy Spirit Newman Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
In addition, I love singing, songwriting, playing guitar, cooking, baking, and hiking. I am so excited to spend this year in Long Beach! Come Holy Spirit!
Hi! My name is Simon Neta. It is an astonishing gift to be on mission to the students at CSU Long Beach. My own conviction to faith grew significantly during my undergraduate studies at the University of North Dakota. I was blessed to desire to deepen my Catholic faith when I left for college from my hometown of Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was by the continual work of the pastor, FOCUS team and faithful friends which changed my heart, more than school could ever accomplish. By this, I have postponed a lucrative career of petroleum engineering to serve as a FOCUS missionary. I am blessed to be a part of a great campus team and parish of St. Bartholomew. There is much to hope for in the next year and I look forward to the good work.
Hi! My name is Myla Wolff. I love travelling and going to the mountains! I grew up in Michigan and graduated from Colorado State University in May of 2020. This is my third year as a FOCUS missionary at CSULB! I’m very excited to be back and worship with all of you at St. Bartholomew. I hope to get to know more of you this year! God bless!
