Every April in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Church asks the people of God to renew their ongoing commitment to protecting our children and young people from sexual abuse. St. Bartholomew has launched a Safe Environment webpage that is dedicated to promoting awareness of the need to be vigilant about providing a safe environment for all within our church and surrounding community. Child Abuse Prevention Month reminds us of the call to be instruments of justice —working for the common good of all— which includes the protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults. The “Safeguard the Children” webpage can be found under the Ministries tab above.
Anyone who has faced the pain of coping with grief at the death of a loved one, spouse or significant person in life can often feel overwhelmed in dealing with the loss. In response to this, St. Bartholomew’s Bereavement Ministry is hosting an online gathering call “Loss of a Spouse” on May 6, at 7:00 pm. The program aims to help participants cope with surprising emotions: how to handle loneliness; how to find strength to go on; and how to find peace. For more information and to register for this Zoom event, please contact Sr. Paulynne at the Parish Office (562) 438-3826.
