Coffee & Donuts is on “summer vacation” and is returning on Patriot Day, Sept. 11. The Knights of Columbus will be serving a special breakfast honoring First Responders. Mark your calendars and plan to celebrate the work of these local heroes!
Psst! Volunteer Opportunities at Home and Across Town
Eucharistic Ministers are still needed at some of our Masses, and for those who wish to serve in-patients at St. Mary Medical Center, they are also asking for volunteers. If you are interested in being a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bartholomew, please contact Cynthia Miramontes.
If you wish to bring Holy Communion to those in the hospital, please contact Fr. Kenneth Chukwu, Director of Spiritual Care Services at St. Mary Medical Center. Volunteers at the hospital are required to have a complete dose of COVID-19 vaccine and a booster. Masks are required at all times. For additional information, please contact Fr. Chukwu at (562) 491-9837.
New OCIA Program Starts in August
Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Do you know someone who is? Register for our next group to be received into the Catholic Church at the 2023 Easter Vigil. Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA, formerly RCIA) 2022-23 program will begin on Sunday, Aug. 14. The OCIA program is the process by which adult men and women can explore the Catholic faith, and make a decision to become Catholic. Through OCIA, individuals are introduced to the life of the Catholic Church through catechesis, liturgy, scripture, prayer and community development. For more details, contact Kellie De Leo at kdeleo@la-archdiocese.org or (562) 438-3826 or click here to register.

Requesting Anointing of the Sick
If Someone in Your Family Becomes Seriously Ill
Please contact us at (562) 438-3826 as early on as possible for the Anointing of the Sick. This sacrament is not intended to be last rites; rather, we should think of it as Our Lord’s special presence and companionship in this serious time of need.
Anointing may take place in the home, at the hospital or medical care facility and received more than once. Our Parish will aim to offer the sacrament at a Sunday Mass on a quarterly basis. If someone should die without anointing, remember that it is like Baptism in that the desire to receive is sufficient and the Lord cares. God Bless.
