"This is my body, given for you."
We will be offering a Hybrid Family Faith Formation for Pre-k - 5th graders this year. Our mission is to communicate the treasures of faith to our young friends (grades 1 to 5) and to their parents. Using the Emmaus model, we walk with our families on a journey toward encountering Jesus in breaking open the Word, breaking bread with the whole parish (Family Mass at 9:30 am), sharing the Good News with others in the spirit of fellowship (Build Community), and bringing the faith to others through acts of mission and service (Act Out).
Through Family Faith Formation, we aim to engage our kids through the traditional faith formation setting on Monday or Tuesday after school and together with their families encourage them to be active learners and evangelizers of our faith. The hybrid model consists of the children meeting in a traditional weekly setting, once a month Faith Formation gathering at the 9:30 am Mass on the third Sunday of the month, a few family gatherings through the year, as well as three parent talks.
Hybrid Family Faith Formation - Pre-k - Fifth Grade:
For our non-sacrament families - We will be using the St. Mary's Press curriculum. Monday weekly sessions will be held for the children. Families will participate in once a month family Mass (third Sunday of the Month).
For our sacrament families - Those who have a child(ren) who will be making their first communion (year 2) we will use the St. Mary's Press curriculum. Monday weekly sessions will be held for the children. Families will participate in once a month family Mass (third Sunday of the Month). We will also have four parent/candidate work sessions, two for the preperation of reconciliation and two for the preparation for Eucharist.
Middle School:
Middle School - Teens will focus on community building and reinforcing the Catechetical foundation built in the lower elementary grades. Growth in the young person’s faith is strengthened with an emphasis on the Bible, Catholic teaching, and connecting our Catholic traditions into daily life. This ministry also facilitates the transition into the high school programs and continued parish involvement. The teens will the meet the 1st/3rd Wednesdays at 7:00 pm.
Confirmation: Teens - Teens are asked to make a stronger commitment to live their lives as a witness to Christ in their words, actions and deeds as they are prepared for their confirmation. 1st/3rd Sundays of the month (there are some variations of the dates because of the holidays.)

Learning about and living the principles of our Catholic faith is a lifelong process and not one intended to cover just those “Special” events (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, etc) in the lives of Catholics.
You as parents dedicated your child at his/her Baptism and made the commitment to educate him/her in the teachings of the Catholic Church. It is precisely for this reason that ALL baptized Catholic children and youth from first grade through tenth grade not in a parochial school are EXPECTED to attend formal classes every year. We, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, extend this opportunity to children ages 4 and in Kindergarten.
The faith formation responsibility not only entails enrolling the children in a formal Faith Formation program, but also ensuring that classes are attended each week and worship at Mass takes place each Sunday as a family.
Children and youth learn more by example than any other mode of communication. Please give your children the “Good Example” of placing faithful Mass attendance and Faith Formation sessions at the TOP of your “TO DO” list.
