Through this Sacrament of Healing we are reconciled with God, with the Church, and with others. Also known as Confession, it celebrates forgiveness and the repairing of broken relationships. Through the Sacrament of Penance, God offers mercy and forgiveness. In response to this gift, we are called to become conduits of Christ’s love, making amends and restoring justice and the bonds that have been broken.
Confession is offered every Saturday from 3:15 to 3:45 pm (Except Holy Saturday).
The Lord never tires of forgiving. It is we who tire of asking for forgiveness,”
-Pope Francis

I will walk by faith,
even when I cannot see.
–2 Corinthians 5:7
When sickness and poor health challenge us physically, mentally, and spiritually, Anointing of the Sick is the balm that soothes and heals bodies, minds, and spirits. The ailing receive the Holy Spirit’s gifts of strength, faith, peace, and courage, and his or her suffering is united with the suffering of Christ for the building up of the Church. It is appropriate to receive this sacrament prior to a serious medical procedure.
Please contact the Parish Office at (562) 438-3826 as early on as possible for the Anointing of the Sick. This sacrament is not intended to be last rites; rather, we should think of it as Our Lord’s special presence and companionship in this serious time of need.
Anointing may take place in the home, at the hospital or medical care facility and received more than once.
Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the Church, and they should pray over him and anoint [him] with oil in the name of the Lord . . . if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven,”
-James 5:14-15
