Each sacrament has certain prayers, signs and symbols which are used to convey the meaning of the sacrament. In Baptism oil and water are used to anoint and cleanse, while a lit candle reminds us that Christ is the light of the world. Prayers and responses are also part of the rite. Parents and godparents answer for the baby and promise to raise their child in the faith. Take a look at the video clips about the Rite of Baptism and so you are aware of the commitment you are making for and to your child and how the rite progresses.
About our Baptism Prep
We'd like our parents to have the opportunity to prepare for their child's Baptism by using our online program and one in person session.
Before you begin this preparation, please be sure to contact Kellie De Leo, Director of Faith Formation at 562-438-3826 to arrange the Baptism date (baptism's are held once a month on various Saturday's) and answer any questions you may have.
Than complete the Baptismal Registar Form and submit to Kellie, kdeleo@la-archdiocese.org, and begin the baptismal preparation. We will also need a copy of your child's birth certificate which you can scan and email to Kellie.
We look forward to meeting you and your family.
